How Does Perineural Injection Therapy Work?

PIT involves a series of small injections of a dextrose (glucose) solution, typically just under the skin along the path of irritated nerves. This low-concentration dextrose (usually 5%) has been shown to calm nerve inflammation and improve the function of nerves that have been injured, compressed, or sensitized due to:

  • Trauma

  • Repetitive use

  • Surgery

  • Chronic inflammation

By bathing the nerve endings in this nourishing solution, PIT helps restore normal communication between nerves and tissues, often resulting in immediate pain relief and long-term healing.

Conditions Commonly Treated with PIT
  • Chronic neck, back, and joint pain

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Sciatica

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Post-surgical or post-traumatic nerve pain

  • Neuropathies

  • Tendonitis and repetitive strain injuries

  • Pain syndromes not responsive to other treatments

  •

What to Expect
  • Quick and comfortable: Most sessions take 15–30 minutes

  • Very fine needles are used just under the skin—no deep tissue injections

  • Minimal side effects: Slight redness or swelling at injection sites is possible

  • Often immediate relief, with cumulative improvement over multiple sessions

  •

Is PIT Right for You?

Perineural Injection Therapy is ideal for patients with nerve-related pain, especially if traditional treatments have not provided lasting relief. Because it’s safe, non-invasive, and drug-free, PIT is a great option for those seeking a natural approach to pain management.
